No matter what they say, money is one of the most important things in the world, if not the most important. Without it people can’t buy good things, travel, expand their vision and take good care of their families. Money is very important. But even a thing as widely spread as money has a lot of untrue things and rumors swirling around it. And some of these we even believe in.

So, what are the most ridiculous beliefs about money do we have?

1. Money is the root of all evil.

2. Good people never get a lot of money.

3. You are only successful if you are born into a rich family.

4. There is no point in reaching for the stars.

5. You might fail.

6. Money can’t buy happiness.

1. Money is the root of all evil.

I bet everyone heard that at least once in their lifetime. Money is the sole root of all evil on Earth. But I do not believe that. How can a tool for life be the root of evil? It is the same as saying that your hammer is to blame because a chair broke right underneath you.

No. Evil doesn’t come from money; it comes from the people who got too excited and tempted with the power money gives. If anything power is to blame here. Not money.

2. Good people never get a lot of money.

What? Where did that come from? Well, maybe from the Middle Ages, when the king was not only rich, but also perceived as a bad person, drunk with power. And a regular field or plant worker really didn’t have that much money and was largely painted as a good person who became an unfortunate victim of the system. And so, this myth was born.

But nowadays the situation has really changed. No one can say that all of the rich people or simply people with money are bad. For the most part these are the people who work a lot and never hesitate to take on another task to make another extra sum.

This is a belief that we need to retire.

3. You are only successful if you are born into a rich family.

Again. That has been true in the past, but right now anyone can become rich. If you have the power and patience to take on new challenges and get new knowledge, then you are going to be just fine. Even if your family was not rich or even outright poor. How many stories like that do we know? A lot.

Musicians, businesspeople, politicians, athletes… millions of people all over the world are self-made. And there is no reason why you can’t be one of them.

4. There is no point in reaching for the stars.

Not true. Not true at all, every man’s dreams and aspirations count. And in our fast-pacing and fast developing world there is a place for even the craziest idea whether you have built a café for people with dogs to come eat, or yoga studio filled with goats and rabbits, or if you simply invented a self-stirring mug – all of these ideas are worth something. And each and every one of them might just be the most profitable idea of your life.

Reach for the stars – that is the only way you are going to find your destiny.

5. You might fail.

I know, this is a bit of a downer, but I had to say this. There is always a possibility that you are going to fail at something. And it might very well be the fulfillment of your dream. Sorry about this.

But the good thing here is that the fear of failing is going to put some carefulness and some attention into you – two things that you are going to need in case you want to be super successful and in case you want to reach your goal.

6. Money can’t buy happiness.

This, in my opinion, is the biggest lie of all. Money absolutely can and will buy you happiness. How? Money buys security. And in our world and time this is the most valuable thing of all. If someone tells you that money can’t buy happiness, that just means that they do not have enough of it.

Harsh, yes. But truthful. Of course, when you have dreams and aspiration, nothing can stand between you and your prosperous happiness!
