Tomorrow , October 17 , last for the U.S. government to raise the debt ceiling . Senate leaders yesterday began negotiations to find a solution to reopen the government and prevent a default . They are said to be close to a deal . The Senate is scheduled to meet today at noon dheShtëpia is set to meet at 10 . U.S. stocks fell after Citigroup Inc. released earnings that were lower than expected . S & P 500 closed 0.71 % lower dheJones Down fell by 0.9 % . Asian stocks were trading choppy due to insecurity . Hang Seng slipped lower and is currently down by 0.78 % . European stocks have opened lower as the deadline inches closer . FTSE 100 is currently down by 0.2 % and by 0.06 % Dax .

 

WTI is still choppy trading about 3 month low . The market seems to be waiting to see the outcome of government negotiations . Investors are also focusing on nuclear negotiations with Iran . Talks have caused the price of Brent crude and WTI declines may follow the suit . Gold has gained little as legislators have so far failed to make a deal . Fitch Ratings said they may downgrade the U.S. from its AAA rating .

12:30 GMT : CAD - Manufacturing Sales ( mother ) - measures the change in the total value of sales made at the level of production

 

22:45 GMT : USD - FOMC Member Fisher Speaks - Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas President and Committee Federal Open Market Committee ( FOMC ) voting member (2008 and 2011 ) Richard Fisher is to speak . FOMC members are responsible for setting the interest rate and their speeches are closely watched for indications of possible future direction of monetary policy .
